At some point most of us experience being worrisome causing us anxiety, concerns and unwanted tensions. But what should we do about it, especially us believers in faith?
What did Jesus tell us about Worrisome?
Luke 10:39-42
39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. 40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” 41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
In this passage, Martha has the characteristics of being a hardworking woman, she cares about the people around her by making sure that they have food to eat after the service, and yet missed to overcome the importance of taking a break for our Lord God. While Mary, took the opportunity to listen and embrace the words of God by listening to our Lord Jesus Christ. She doesn’t worry about the things around her because she knew that man cannot live in bread alone but by words of God.
At some point, we are all Martha.
We worry about many things.
We always think about our work, plans, tomorrow, money to pay bills, food to cook for meals, never ending laundry, kids’ schooling, etc.
Did we worry about our relationship with God?
Did we think about what we can do to please God?
Did we read the scripture today?
Did we meditate and reflect?
Did we utter our gratefulness to Him, our Lord full of love to us?
Did we seek His words today?
Let’s not comfort ourselves to worldly affairs rather let’s comfort ourselves by the words of God. We are His creation and our deepest need is to be with His proximity. And for us to be near in His presences, we ought to remember Him always. We should always engage ourselves in meditation, prayers, and by seeking His will through our Lord Jesus Christ. And when we do, His blessings and guidance will never be taken from us!
Our Prayer
Oh God Almighty, we praise Your Name and Holiness. You are the greatest of all and You always find good in everything. Let us see the goodness in everything too just like You. We beg Your comfort and guidance so we may be able to perform our duties in serving You and others. Oh God Almighty, we thank You everyday. We may not be able to pray or study Your words as often as we wanted but please help us achieve our goals in serving Thy. In Jesus name, Amen!
Have a Blessed Sunday, Lounger!
