Happiness is an ecstasy of enjoyment. It may sound simple; even a kid can define it, but it is not. How many of us know the meaning of true happiness and how to attain that state? Not so many! You may experience happiness from time to time; however, it may take a tremendous amount of time, like years, to make this state last.
How to achieve Happiness?
Some look for happiness outside. Some believe that they can be happy if they possess extravagant things or be with well-known people or reach a professional height. This is what they have been fed with since their childhood. While all the mentioned things are crucial for a good living, unfortunately, these cannot bring true happiness and make it last.
Based in my experience, here are 5 good ways to achieve happiness.
#1. Be Content.
Most of us are occupied, planning, and working hard to get all the good things in life. Pressuring ourselves to have this and that, while this mentality put us in forgetting the essential things we already have in life. We become blinded and striving for more instead of becoming contented and calm. Stop forcing yourself to be on top to please the people around you. It will just hurt you more rather than being happy. Accept and embrace whatever life God has brought you because there’s a positive reason behind it.
#2. Be Thankful.
Reminisce the past events in your life which bring joy to you. Be thankful to God that He blessed you so much and helped you with your fight. Be grateful that you have a life that you can share with your family, friends, and or special someone.
#3. Cultivate Positive Thoughts.
Your thought dictates your present. Train your brain to cultivate happiness within. Meditation, reading good books, watching inspiring films, reading scriptures will be a big help. Surrounds your mind with an optimistic view and train your mindset to drop the negativity.
#4. Live in Present.
Some people can’t move on from the past, and others are too advanced to live in the future. Stop thinking about your past mistakes because you will be a prisoner of the past if you do. You will tend to be the houseguest living in the future, trying not to make the same mistakes. We are human, and we are bound to make mistakes. Failure is inevitable, yet we can learn from it, bringing a genuine smile to your face.
#5. Surround Yourself with Positive People.
“Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are,” as the cliché says. If you join people who think aggressively, you will find yourself thinks and act aggressively too. The best is to be with people you can speak with about life, faith, and experiences in a constructive way. Sincere happy people will always have the heart to support and understand your adversaries; be with them.
Reflection
It is our thoughts that create our emotions and lead our actions. So, we must build positive thoughts and a constructive attitude towards life, ultimately resulting in authentic, long-lasting happiness!
